Holland & Knight's partnership with Computer Mentors, Inc. of Tampa expanded this year when the firm's IT department extended help to their Tech Bowl.

The Tech Bowl is a game-show format competition that challenges teens to answer questions regarding computer technology. Ralph Barber and Malay Shah coached a team of four bright young women from Middleton High School, with tutoring supplies created by Nicolas Avila and John Thomas, with help from Adrian Smith.

Malay Shah summed up the experience, "Working with the kids, tutoring & mentoring them, and preparing them for a contest was a very satisfying and fun process. Seeing the excited "winning" glare in the eyes when they got the answers correct, the sadness when they got the answers wrong, and realization of the "finality" of a Contest result made this a a very touching and humbling experience. I am sure the kids learned not only the technical aspects, but also about the spirit of a contest, and the lessons learned will be helpful to them in a lot of other ventures in life."

Holland & Knight's team didn't win this year, but they cheered for Microsoft's team who did win. But wait until next year....
